Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is basically explained as a breeding ground for panic attacks. A panic attack is a sudden and intense period of fear and discomfort associated with both physical and psychological symptoms. Anxiety is believed to be the underlying cause of panic attacks among other theories. One theory suggests that it is part of an evolutionary response known as fight or flight that causes the body to flood itself with adrenaline that aids the body in defending itself from danger.
