Physical symptoms associated with a panic attack include dizziness, a feeling of choking, feelings of faintness, clammy hands, racing heart, and severe shaking.

Millions of people each year all over the world suffer from panic attacks. The majority of these people are more likely to experience a panic attack because their bodies carry the gene for anxiety disorders. Some statistics show that a person who has a parent who has ever suffered from a panic attack is seven times more likely to also experience a panic attack than the general population.

Scientific research into the reasons for a panic attack show that a large percentage of those who are likely to experience a panic attack carry the gene dubbed DUP25.

Scientists have discovered that this panic attack gene creates proteins that play an important role in the way the nervous system cells communicate with each other. They suspect that this imbalance is what makes the brain so oversensitive that it brings on a panic attack is those that carry the gene.

That said, studies have also shown that not every single person who carries the panic attack gene DUP25 is guaranteed to suffer from a panic attack or any other anxiety disorder.

A panic attack can also be brought on for reasons other then hereditary reasons. A panic attack – or numerous, repeated panic attacks — can be brought on by a traumatic life event or drug misuse. There are statistics that show that eight percent of those who have experienced a panic attack have had one or more because of drug misuse.

Other statistics suggest that those more likely to experience a panic attack are people who suppress their emotions.

Anyone who has ever experienced a panic attack explains that it can happen anytime or anywhere. A panic attack can happen when the person is alone or with others. It can happen at home or in public. A panic attack can even happen when a person is waking up from a sound, restful sleep.

Those most likely to experience a panic attack are women in their young adult years. About half of those who experience panic attacks do so before the age of 24.

People who seek treatment of panic attacks will find relief from them within a few weeks. And although experiencing a panic attack is highly unpleasant, there are no long-term side effects once treatment has been completed and if it is maintained.

Even with treatment, it is still possible for the occasional relapse. This means that it is possible for a person to experience another panic attack or two if he or she is undergoing treatment. But possible relapses can further be reduced by adding stress-relieving activities like yoga to your daily schedule.

Modern living and a hectic overworked lifestyle can cause our mind and nervous system to become so over stimulated that a panic attack is the result.

This over stimulation causes an imbalance of our brain and nervous system and it is this balance that must be restored to allow us to regain control of our lives and help panic attacks to become a thing of the past.

If stress is the cause of our problem how do we overcome it? Most of us are not in a position to up sticks and leave our family, quit our job or get away from whatever situation is causing us to experience these panic attacks.

We have to restore a balance so we need to teach ourselves how to confront the anxiety that is troubling us and learn to keep it under control and we can program our minds how to do just that.

We obviously need to reduce or eliminate the stress that is the root of our dilemma; this could mean making some basic changes to our lifestyle. A change of diet could help and making sure that we get a good nights sleep, regular bed times and a better daily routine can help us to achieve a general feeling of wellbeing which will in turn reduce stress.

By bringing some order into our lives you can overcome your panic attack problem. There many ways to reduce stress and so help people to learn how to cope with their anxieties. They do not need to involve prescription drugs and once the right course of action is found the benefits are immediate and will help panic attacks to be out of our lives for good.

If you are the individual who suffers the experiencing in having frequent panic attacks, realize that there are methods to eliminate them. You do not want to turn these attacks into something that could be more serious. They could lead to more serious medical problems, dealing with both your mind and physically with your body. The worst that thing you could do, would be in choosing to do nothing about them. One way to prevent panic attacks is by realizing that you can control certain events in your life.

You have had events and circumstances which have occurred in your life in the past. The past is exactly what it is; life situations and events which are over and done with. It would be illogical to think that you could travel back to the past, alter events which took place, and your present life would now be different. What you can do, is learn from your past. A great form of education is to look back at the poor decisions and mistakes that took place in your life, (of your own doing) and decide that you will never repeat them. To prevent a toll taken on your body which elevates your levels of stress and anxiety, do not dwell on the past.

Consequently there is the future. Do you realize that anything in the future is not guaranteed? When you dwell over, and even fear about what could occur in ten hours, ten days, or ten weeks, you need to realize that this fear is really nothing but illogical thinking. The premise about what could happen in the future is something that you simply cannot control. As soon as you begin to understand that you can only control what is in truth the present, then it is your first step towards recovery.

Example: It is 8 in the morning. I have awaken from sleep and got out of bed. This is an event that I know is fact. I am now hungry. I can control what I eat for breakfast. As I have certain food items in my pantry and refrigerator I decide to eat the following: I decide to eat warm maple-oat flavored cereal, together with an English muffin topped with strawberry jam. I decide to have a glass of orange juice with my meal. It is my decision as to what I will be eating, something that I can control. These events are in the present.

Here is what I cannot control. Three hours from now, I know that I must get to a mandatory business appointment on the other side of town. The weather forecast calls for the possibility of a thunderstorm taking place at about that time. It might rain heavily, or it might be completely dry outside in three hours. It’s a future event which may or may not actually occur. The weather people who make these predictions have been known to be wrong a time, or two. Since I cannot control Mother Nature, dwelling in my mind about the possibility that it could be very wet outside three hours from now is something that is beyond my control. Why should I fantasize, dwell on, and obsess about possible weather outcomes, (fearing that I could get drenched) when there is absolutely nothing that I could do to prevent it from raining in the first place?

When an actual panic attack takes place, acknowledge that it is only a temporary event, and that it will go away. What you cannot do is to dwell on and create in your mind the fear of a possible impending, (or future) attack. Again, you really need to understand that would you cannot predict is the future. It is something that you cannot control. Why would you want to dwell and obsess over any possible future event? With regards to any future attacks, why would you want to come to the point in which you dread and fear them, when in fact they may never occur? To put it bluntly, the more you dread, fear, and obsess over the possibility of any future attacks, the greater chance that they will in fact take place.

High levels of stress and anxiety could do long-term damage to your body. Your body was not designed to undergo constant stress and anxiety. Having a constant fear of the future has been medically known to produce the following conditions: high blood pressure, strokes, stomach ulcers, and even damaging or lethal heart attacks to such individuals. To prevent the damage that these attacks can cause both psychologically and physically to an individual, you should be pro-active in first seeking out treatment from those in the medical profession.

Provided with the proper behavior-modification exercises, realize that you can eventually prevent panic attacks from occurring. You should always understand that you have the power in your mind to eventually control, and prevent these attacks from taking place. Do not obsess over the past, or the future. The past is now history, the future is something that is not guaranteed! Friend, please visit this site if you seek more information: http://controlyouranxiety57.com. This disorder does not need to become a permanent part of your life.

Twelve years ago, I went through a very traumatic experience in my life. Because of that I eventually was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder through a medical professional in the field of psychiatry. I had many panic attacks that I often found to be overwhelming. At times, I feel as if I was not in control of the thoughts coming from my mind. Through behavior modification exercises provided by a trained medical professional, and through loving support of friends and family members, I overcame this disorder. I wish to offer support and guidance to those individuals who are going through the same ordeal as I did.

One way to stop panic attacks is by realizing that you can control certain events in your life.

As I have certain food items in my pantry and refrigerator I decide to eat the following: I decide to eat warm maple-oat flavored cereal, with an English muffin topped with strawberry jam.

Provided with the proper behavior-modification exercises, realize that you can eventually stop panic attacks from occurring.

There are some folk whose panic attacks are so awful that they end up in the Emergency Room, really convinced that it is a heart attack The pain is so intense and real that many people are surprised to find out from their doctors that they are ?only? having a panic attack.

Naturally, for any person who has ever experienced it, they know that there it is not ‘merely’ a panic attack. No matter how the symptoms manifest themselves for each individual, panic attacks can be debilitating and affect every aspect of your life.

If you are a panic attack sufferer, you will often try to avoid situations that though quite ‘normal’ for others, will cause you to become anxious and therefore have a panic attack. This can include such simple things as driving is busy traffic, riding on elevators, or riding on public transportation. Being in an enclosed space is something that research has shown to be a very widespread cause of people having panic attacks.

What can you do to deal with it? What can you do to stop getting panic attacks? It is important to know that it doesn’t help to avoid it. The anxiety and worry of anticipating the next panic attack will still be there even if you avoid the types of situations that normally trigger an attack What does it do to your life if you continue to curtail your daily behaviour in this manner? What important events have you missed out on due to your panic attacks?

It is important that you cease avoidance of setting off an attack and start to deal with the anxiety of waiting for them face on. You should put a stop to the whole vicious cycle of anxiety and worry that often triggers the panic attacks Once you stop fearing your panic attacks, you can get rid of them completely.

So how can you become free from the fear? The Panic Away panic attacks treatments system Panic Away has the amazing One Move Technique which breaks the cycle and eliminates the fear. If you are prepared to use the best of the panic attacks treatments available and get rid of your panic attacks for good, Panic Away is definitely for you.

Misinformation does not only create vague pictures of a condition, but will also likely cause people to believe things that do not actually exist. Among those conditions that typically receive serious amounts of myths are psychological and behavioral disorders; partly because psychological conditions are often hard to understand and seem mysterious. In this article, we will try to debug the myths of one of the more common behavioral conditions—panic attacks.

“People with panic attacks are crazy.”

Crazy is never a good term for people with psychological conditions and people with panic attacks are hardly crazy. They may seem deranged and a bit psychotic for some people when they experience attacks of panic and terror but this does not suggest that they are.

As if to add to the insult, people with panic attacks are sometimes perceived to have schizophrenia, the most advanced form of psychosis which is marked by severe auditory and visual hallucination as well as aggravated delusions and dysfunctional thoughts. Clearly, there is no relationship between people who feel like they are “going crazy” when undergoing attacks and people who have advanced (and even minor) psychological conditions.

“People with panic attacks lose control.”

Wrong. Panic attacks do not rob a person his sense of control. While a person’s thoughts may seem distorted for a while during attacks due to physical symptoms that lend themselves towards this possibility such as shortness of breath and heart attack-like symptoms, this does not mean that the person is losing grip of the reality. Anxiety which normally accompanies panic attacks is a body’s way to tell you that something is going wrong. Since this is a defense mechanism, it is not dangerous to anyone, not even the person undergoing the panic attack.

It is good to remember that panic attack happens only in the mind, it may, in fact, be unnoticeable for people surrounding the person during the attack. What exacerbates the attack is the person’s conscious thought that it could cause embarrassment or harm to other people. It is the sense of losing control of one’s self that makes the condition worse, a thought that is manufactured in the brain, never the total lack of sense of control.

“People with panic attacks have chronic heart disorders.”

While this may be partly true due to the link between mitral valve prolapse and panic attacks, this does not make the assertion entirely valid. People have good reasons to believe that they are having heart attacks or heart failures when they experience episodes of panic attacks since some of the symptoms of both conditions are similar. But such symptoms are perfectly rational when seen from the viewpoint of elevated fear.

For example, people subjected under conditions that stimulate fear experience tightening of the chest, faster heart beat, profuse perspiration, shortness of breath and increased respiration. All these signs are also symptoms of heart attacks which make it easy for most people to believe that instead of having a disorder of the mind, they are having dysfunctional hearts. But then again, similarity in symptoms does not make two completely different conditions alike.

Myths often offer a semblance of the reality that is not hard to believe in. But do not be fooled. Knowing what is the exact truth and not the half lies may serve you well when dealing with conditions that root from and are aggravated by thoughts.

To discover the simple ‘ONE MOVE’ technique that will eliminate your fear factor and so break your vicious cycle of anxiety at last, go here now http://eliminatepanicattacks.blogspot.com and prepare to get your old self back again.

Nobody will know the severity of your state is except you. And this kind of condition deals with your mental ability. If you lose control, everything will follow. Our brain serves as the motor power for our body, when it is disrupted other systems will not function well either.

Exercising techniques – spend at least 20 to 30 minutes a day stretching, walking or jogging. Keep yourself active and all your body systems will be in good working condition. Stimulate and motivate your mind. Impose strong control on what you are thinking. Happy memories and good thoughts are the ideal thought for you to focus on. If you keep your body working properly, there is no place for a panic attack. But if one occurs, a good slow deep breath will do the trick.

Meditation and Yoga – both will help in motivating your body and mind. Reach the state of extreme calmness and relaxation. Keeping your mind sorted can and will keep you safe from panic attacks. The “state of nirvana,” if you can reach it, would be the turnaround of your recovery. Its sometimes said to be ultimate calmness and peace of the mind.

Having a panic attack is something that nobody likes to deal with. The feeling of your chest tightening as if you were having a heart attack is not good for anyone. There are actually ways that you can stop panic attacks without medication. They don’t involve a doctor, medication or a trip to the nearest pharmacy. I know all too well the unkind visit of a panic attack and have found personal ways that I deal with them, hopefully they will help you as well.

If you haven’t had a panic attack you can not possibly understand the cause behind them and so don’t treat that person as though they were crazy. They probably feel that way without you telling them so. However, if you have ever had a panic attack you understand the need to put an end to them. Panic attacks are generally created by stress of course. Isn’t stress the number one contributor of many things, panic attacks just being one of them? Therefore, it is no wonder that people wish to find ways to stop panic attacks without medication as many times the medication can just cause more problems.

With stress being the number one contributor to panic attacks you need to do what is necessary to cut down on he stresses in your life. You might think that sounds difficult to do but you just have to be dedicated to the solution and look at the bigger picture. If you think about what it is that causes you stress it will amaze you at the number of them that can be eliminated.

Let us say that the reason you are so stressed is because of your schedule. You have kids to run to soccer, violin practice, dinner to make and everyone in bed by nine with many other things left to do the rest of the week. Figure out a solution, whatever it takes, because if you aren’t healthy enough to enjoy taking your kids to where they need to be then odds are you need to quit. Find someone to help carpool, break out the crock-pot to work on a good dinner the slow way and cut back on the things that give you that, “Oh man I’m stressed,” feeling.

Taking charge of your mental state is the best way to stop panic attacks without medication. When I feel as though something is really stressing me out, I decide if it is something I can change or not. Of course having bills and such is always going to be stressful, it is for everybody. But you know what? Everybody does have them, has had them and probably will always have them. The only difference is that some have just learned to accept that things such as bills and debt are always going to be a part of their lives and went on.

Looking at my checkbook sometimes I can just feel that pinch in my chest coming on when I see how tight things will be. If that happens I think to myself, “will my stressing actually change the situation?” In other words, will my stress and worry bring us any more money? No. All it will do is make me tired, cranky, and extremely stressed. Therefore, I take charge and tell myself to let it go, it will not change anything. And, that makes it a lot easier.

To stop panic attacks without medication simply means that you need to be aware of your own situation and be willing to take charge of it. Do you really want to allow the stresses of the world to run your life?

Unless you know the facts, you may mistake the chest pains that normally accompany panic attacks for a heart attack.

Every year, thousands of people having chest pain, difficulty breathing, pain or numbness in the left arm and tingling throughout the body end up in a hospital emergency room because they believe they are having a heart attack. Typically, a few tests are run, and the patient is sent home because the nature of the attack he or she experienced is one of panic, not coronary.

It’s easy to understand how a panic attack can be mistaken for a heart attack; the two share several common symptoms-with subtle, but recognizable differences. For instance, the chest pain from a heart attack is focused in the center of the chest and is crushing, as if a heavy weight is sitting on top of the chest. It is usually persistent, may radiate to the left arm, neck or back and lasts longer than 5 – 10 minutes. Heart attack victims don’t hyperventilate (unless the person’s fear of heart attack triggers a panic attack), any tingling they experience is usually confined to the left arm, and vomiting is common.

During a panic attack, chest pain is localized over the heart and described as “sharp, and comes and goes. The pain usually intensifies with breathing in and out, and pressing on the center of the chest. Panic attack may cause nausea, but vomiting is rare, and if tingling is present, the entire body tingles. Hyperventilation almost always precedes a panic attack. Using deep breathing techniques dispel this and combined with relaxation exercises, other panic attack symptoms disappear in less than 5 minutes. If the location of the pain moves to the center of the chest, doesn’t go away within 10 minutes, is accompanied by more than one incident of vomiting or diarrhea, or goes away and returns a few minutes later, you should immediately get medical attention.

Panic attacks don’t cause heart disease, and some experts say that they actually affect the heart similarly to the way cardio exercise does, by causing the release of adrenaline, increasing the heart rate, and expanding blood vessels. On the same note, heart disease doesn’t cause panic attacks, although a person with a history of panic attacks who is actually having a coronary may also panic for fear of worsening the heart damage, dying or being disabled.

Using the correct techniques and exercises, you can learn to control panic attack symptoms. I’m one of those with anxiety/panic disorders who have benefited from these practices. I’ve learned to overcome the symptoms of panic attack and differentiate them from heart attack symptoms. It takes practice to control panic attack symptoms, but if you learn to recognize the difference between panic and heart attack signs, and you know that what you’re experiencing is only a panic attack, they’ll be much easier to deal with.

If you want to learn more about heart attacks and how to deal with panic attacks, there is a great amount of information on the Internet. Learning the difference between the two kinds of symptoms makes all the difference in how you react to panic attacks!

Did you know that every 8 seconds someone in the US has a panic attack? True! And sometimes I’m one of them! How about you?

I’ve had panic attacks that have lasted 30 minutes, and was absolutely certain I was having a heart attack! I couldn’t breathe, I had chest and neck pains, my left arm hurt, yet at the same time was numb; how weird is that?. Although I still feel the symptoms of panic attack coming on, from time to time, I’ve learned how to take control of my thoughts and reactions, and have changed my lifestyle to drastically decrease the chances of panic attack. Click Here To find out Step-By-Step how I took control of my Anxiety and Finally Ended My Panic Attacks

Side effects are common with a number of medications that are used to treat panic attacks. It is important when discussing ways to treat panic attacks with your doctor that you discuss all the possible side effects before taking any medications.

It is also a good idea to allow for an adjustment period so that you can find out what side effects the particular medication you are taking for panic attacks treatment. It is also important if you are taking medication to inform your doctor if you are pregnant or may become pregnant. Most of these medications can be past on to a fetus and have an effect on development.

There is also psychotherapy, which make work wonders for people who do not want to attempt medication or who are unable to take it for health reasons. There are very effective panic attacks treatment options in the realm of psychotherapy. In fact, even if you are taking medication many times you will find that therapy is also recommended as a way to cure panic attacks.

There are a number of different ways that psychotherapy can help with overcoming panic attacks. The first is to learn the thought process that is created in the situations right before a panic attack or during one. What causes them and what is the person suffering from the attack thinking right before. By finding these patterns out you can change the thought pattern or shift away from the thoughts, which may trigger the attacks simply by being aware of them.

Other things that may be used for panic attacks treatment is the use of behavioral modifications. This is the introduction of breathing and relaxation techniques as well as increasing the exposure the sufferer has to the situations and triggers, which cause the panic attacks. Work is also usually done on the emotions that are created right before, during and after panic attacks.

Often time a combination of medication and therapy will be employed. The medication used to treat the symptoms while the therapy is used to resolve the underlying issues, which are causing the problem in the first place. In fact, the combination panic attacks treatment often has a 70-90% success rate. This means that 70-90% of the people who suffer from panic attacks and engage in this treatment end up seeing a reduction or prevention of their panic attacks.

Sufferers of panic attacks may want to consider alternative panic attack treatment options as supplements to traditional treatments. These are things like exercise, relaxation practices such as yoga or Tai Chi. They may also want to try avoiding certain types of foods and substances that can cause a panic attack to increase in severity.

There are also other mental health issues such as depression that can be associated with panic attacks and need to be looked at when seeking out panic attacks treatment options.
