It is for this reason that treatment for panic disorders and attacks is vital for survival and mental well being. This article will provide you with key information about what a panic attack symptom may look like and how they can be treated. However, before one jumps into treatment it is important to remember that treatment is only possible if the symptoms are properly understood. Hence, allow this article to first impart on you some key information about panic attack symptoms and its resulting implications.

Since panic episodes usually last for about thirty minutes, the hindrance to normal functioning is considerable, more so because they can occur anywhere and anytime. Among the most common panic attack symptoms you need to be wary of is shortness of breath or hyperventilation. These feelings are usually coupled with heart palpitations or a racing heartbeat. People have also reported chest pains and other feelings of discomfort in the chest region such as choking. These though are not the complete list of symptoms; others include trembling or shaking, sweating, and nausea or upset stomach.

One of the first senses which tend to be hit by a panic attack is the head/mind with people experiencing an attack often complaining of feeling dizzy, lightheaded, or faint. While all of these symptoms are very serious in their own regard, the worst experience remains the feeling of complete loss of control with the victim thinking he/she is about to die.

Since panic attacks are such a grave issue and its symptoms are no laughing matter, it is imperative that professional help be looked for if one does occur. The sooner treatment is found, the better it will be; conversely the more one procrastinates, the stronger will be the severity of the attack itself.

Help will come in many forms and types. One of the common methods of treatment is behavioural therapy which aims to help alter your thinking patterns so that your behaviour can be altered as a result. Contrarily, you also have the option of medications open to you, although you should be warned that these drugs are very addictive and can cause serious withdrawal symptoms. Nonetheless, benzodiazepines are an appealing option to people suffering from panic attacks since they are very fast acting and can thus help nullify the symptoms associated with the effects of an attack by providing instant relief.

Remember though that medications on their own aren’t the best solution since they are not able to counter the root causes of anxiety. Hence, if a permanent solution to panic attacks is desired then it is highly advised that behavioural therapy – be it Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy or Exposure Therapy – accompany the medications you take.

Alternatively, you yourself can reduce the severity of a panic attack symptom by engaging in habits which do not induce stress and instead offer relaxation. Hence, you should try and avoid the intake of alcohol, nicotine and caffeine as all three products are known to heighten anxiety levels. Meanwhile, to increase relaxation of the body and mind you should rigidly follow a regular exercise plan. Alternatively, you could enroll yourself in a yoga class which would teach you how to control your breathing such that both your mind and your body’s muscles are given a breather whenever you want.

Natural remedies used with some de-stressing tips offer a long term solution. Learning how to stop panic attacks is very important. Stress finds its way into our lives every day, the idea is to adopt techniques to filter it and be able to dump it regularly when it builds up.

Besides, it did not only help me to cure my panic disorder better but it also made me feel more sure of myself and it gave me confidence. But the important thing here is to react to them properly. A visit to your healthcare provider to narrow down the causes and list out the best treatment options for your case. Treatment starts with some brief research to check the background information on the condition and common types of treatment available, just to inform yourself.

When the attack comes it leaves the person feeling distressed and helpless and some even become afraid of leaving their home. I realised that motion releases tension and I used this to my benefit. It often takes a bit of trial and error in order to find a treatment that works and which is going to allow you to live a normal life once again. The results range from nervous sweating to heart palpitations.

Just because someone may have found a certain treatment for their existing problems and they are living a normal life now, that does not mean that it is going to pan out the same for you. There are many types of panic attacks cures such as using natural remedies and medication.

Start believing in yourself strongly because you can do this. Medications treat the physical symptoms like blushing, sweating and trembling hands but usually cannot prevent the attacks from reoccurring. Maybe you can find a personal method for yourself. Finding your own ways is very helpful in my opinion. There are ways to stop panic attacks by using the right techniques available in the market.

Is there a relationship between depression and panic attacks? The short answer is a definite yes.

The two have the potential to be deeply interrelated, and often you will find that one will lead to the other. Both are psychological issues that need to be addressed as quickly as you can because leaving the problem unresolved will cause problems further down the line.

So what is the relationship between depression and panic attacks exactly? To answer this we must first define what depression is.

Depression is a real mental illness. It can be hard to explain if you have not suffered from it before, but generally it is a constant, nagging feeling of despair and sadness. It can be difficult to get out of if not treated properly and unfortunately is the leading cause of suicide.

Panic attacks are a sudden intense fear that can manifest itself through sweating, heart palpitations, trembling with a deep and overwhelming sense of anxiety.

Although still exclusive from each other, they can also be the cause of either problem.

One example could be that a panic attack sufferer has regular attacks. The attacks occur without warning and often lead to uncomfortable and embarrassing situations. Eventually this leads to major disruption in the life of the sufferer and now faces problems with relationships at home and in the work place.

This situation in turn is a precursor to depression. The sufferer does not know what to do, he is concerned about his own welfare, and the welfare of those he cares about. He feels that he is stuck between a rock and a hard place and is now experiencing a range of emotions such as anger, frustration, confusion, sadness and fear.

The sufferer is now depressed as well as having continuing panic attacks.

Now this is an extreme example, but it should give you an idea of how panic attacks and depression can lead to one another. That is not to say that it will, but you should be aware that if left uncontrolled, it can.

You actually can stop the vicious cycle of panic disorder by a simple technique which is called One Move Technique and was discovered by the author of Panic Away, Joe Barry. He was a long time panic disorder sufferer until he discovered this particular technique.

Anxiety attacks can have terrible symptoms like shortness of breathe, heart palpitations or short flashes. Sometimes the symptoms can get worse and feel as if you have a heart attack. This symptoms can make you feel low and fear for your sanity. The truth is that you are not going crazy, you just suffer from panic anxiety disorder and by eliminating it you make sure you don’t get all kinds of phobias.

There are all kind of phobias, like fearing going of open spaces, fearing of driving, fearing of public speaking, just to name a few. These can make your life pretty miserable and can affect your work life.

You can break the dreadful cycle of panic thoughts. You just need to re-work your mind of not thinking of negative thoughts. This you have to do it yourself and not pill will solve that. This is a critical step in your battle with panic attacks and is crucial in your success of eliminating anxiety and panic.

While they may seem uncontrollable, there are some helpful tips for panic attacks you could follow to deal with this challenge.

These tips for panic attacks are quite simple and don’t require you to exert a lot of effort. At this point, you’re not supposed to burden yourself with too many steps or long processes. In fact, the three highlighted below are some of the simplest methods out there.

Acknowledge It.

One of the first tips for panic attacks is acknowledgment and understanding. You have to realize that what you’re experiencing is just a panic attack and not a real attack to your body or person. Search for more information in books, online or from a doctor. The more knowledge you have, the better you will be able to handle future attacks.

Music is Your New Best Friend.

It’s always handy to bring your iPod or mp3 player with you wherever you go. Not only does it help kill boredom and time, the music can also distract you from whatever it is that is causing your panic attack.

When you’re at home, you can even create a playlist which contains only songs that soothe you. A lot of people, even those who don’t suffer from panic attacks, enjoy this activity a lot.

Breathe In and Out Slowly.

Although you might have difficulty in breathing, doing breathing exercises will calm you down. Focus on how your stomach enlarges while inhaling and how it reverts to normal size when exhaling.

As simple as this method may be, it’s one of the top tips for panic attacks out there. Doing this regulates your breathing and keeps you from thinking about your triggers. Avoid the paper bag trick.

These three tips for panic attacks come in handy especially when you’re in the middle of a commute or in public. However, it is also best that you seek the advice of a medical professional for long-term remedies.

It started with a tingling sensation in your chest…gradually, your chest muscles starts to tighten and it becomes more and more painful with each passing minute. You also notice that you heart is beating faster and faster and you can actually “feel it” thumping madly against your chest. The immediate thought of “heart attack” or “stroke” flashes into your mind…as you start feeling light-headed and numb, you begin to believe that you are indeed suffering from heart attack…or is it?

One of the most worrying symptoms of panic attack is heart palpitations and this can often lead to the assumption of “heart attack”, something which you would not want to associate yourself with. It is easy to mistake both of them as they share several common symptoms. However, there is a clear difference between panic attack and a heart attack.

In a real heart attack, sufferers will experience a crushing sensation inside the chest and this pain is continuous. In fact, you DO NOT hear your heart beating during a heart attack, nor do you care – the crushing pain is the only thing you can feel. For panic attacks, you can actually feel the rapid heartbeat, in addition to other worrying symptoms. You are never in any real danger during a panic attack, you are just panicking.

The surest way is of course to go for a medical examination and request for electrocardiogram and blood tests. If you have been to the emergency room before and the doctor has given you an all clear cardiac wise – believe him. The thing about heart attack is that you CANNOT have one without an existing heart condition or disease – it a fact. Panic attack CANNOT and WILL NOT cause a heart disease or heart attack. In fact, studies have shown that panic attacks affect the heart similar to the way cardio exercise does. Therefore, do not be alarmed if you suffer from chest pains during a panic attack. If it is related to anxiety and panic, such pain will subside eventually and will never harm you.

If you visit the doctor´s office with the suspicion you have anxiety, you will probably be asked a lot of questions about your daily routine and habits.

The doctor will use this information to help diagnose you but you can use this information to help you figure out how to solve your anxiety problems. Many anxiety conditions can be effectively dealt with without medication.Â

Here are some of the questions you might be asked when you visit the doctor due to anxiety problems.Â

1. How often do you feel anxious? If you have infrequent bouts of anxiety, it may indicate a physical problem. More frequent episodes tend to indicate an anxiety condition.

2. What are some of the current stresses in your life? Anxiety conditions are often related to your physical health, personal relationships or financial considerations.Â

3. Has there been a recent, traumatic incident in your life? The loss of a loved one, personal injury, or natural disaster. Trauma is often very connected to our anxiety level.Â

4. Is there a family history of depression or anxiety? There is a genetic component to these problems and family history can often be a good clue in determining the nature of your current condition. Depression and anxiety problems are often bed companions as well.Â

5. Are you on any prescription medications, drink excessive amounts of caffeine or alcohol? These questions are pertinent because prescriptions drugs can have side effects that either cause anxiety or mimic the symptoms of it. Alcohol and caffeine can lead to jitteriness, paranoia or depression.Â

6. Under what circumstances do you feel anxious? This question will help determine the nature of your anxiety. Do you have a fear of elevators, speaking in front of others or a more generalized type of anxiety disorder?Â

7. Is it difficult to perform your daily activities i.e. going to work, shopping driving etc.? This question will help determine the impact of your anxiety on your life, an important diagnostic consideration.Â

8. Have you felt more tired or had trouble concentrating lately? These questions get at the symptoms of anxiety.Â

9. Are you experiencing panic attacks or just general feelings of worry? A panic attack is often the culmination of anxious feelings and can be very scary and traumatic.Â

10. Do you have any medical conditions? This can help the doctor determine whether any medical problems you may have are contributing to your symptoms.

While these questions are just some of the many you will probably be asked, they are a good place to start in understanding for yourself whether you have an anxiety problem and what may be contributing to it. Once you understand the source of your symptoms, you can work to solve those problems and hopefully in turn solve your anxiety.
