A panic attack can be a really scary and traumatic experience.  Someone suffering from one may feel like they can’t breathe, are having a heart attack, loss of control and overwhelming fear.  When it passes the next fear is when it may happen again!  Panic Attacks are primarily a ‘fight or flight’ response to a perceived threat.  The problem, as you may know, is that once the panic attack begins and that heightened state of fear starts, it is very difficult to calm yourself down.  Common symptoms of a panic attack include:

  • a racing or pounding heartbeat
  • dizziness and lightheadedness
  • feeling that “I can’t catch my breath”
  • chest pains or a “heaviness” in the chest
  • flushes or chills
  • tingling in the hands, feet, legs, arms
  • jumpiness, trembling, twitching muscles
  • sweaty palms, flushed face
  • fear of losing control, dying and/or going crazy

Panic is not necessarily brought on by a recognizable circumstance, and it may remain a mystery to the person involved. These attacks come “out of the blue”. At other times, excessive stress or other negative life conditions can trigger an attack.  During a panic attack your brain has moved into panic mode and in order to really restore order you need to learn how to switch your mental activity back to the rational part of your brain. What’s more is that you need to learn a technique that will allow you to do so in a split second, regardless of where you are or what you are doing.  A program called Panic Away is founded on a method for relieving attacks called the “one move technique.”  Aside from teaching the method, the program comes with CD’s, DVD’s, and e-book and a member’s forum to communicate with others who have suffered from panic attacks.  Support groups can really make a difference so you know you’re not alone.
