Many people have touted the effectiveness of herbal remedies to alleviate anxiety and panic attacks. However, when it comes to using alternative methods for treating health-related matters, it’s useful to understand the advantages and disadvantages.

Althought many users have claimed that herbal remedies for anxiety can be as highly effective as psychotropic medications and without causing any side effect, these methods have not been approved by the FDA as there is still lack of scientific evidence. Most of the positive results are based on users’ experiences. And different people may also experience different experience.

If you have decided to try herbal remedies for anxiety and panic attacks; we suggest you to inform your doctor first. Ask your doctor to share his or her thoughts on alternative methods for treating anxiety. If you’re currently taking any prescribed medication or other herbal remedies, you also must inform your doctor about it.

Informing and communicating with your doctor is a necessary precaution to avoid undesirable result especially if you’re currently under a medical prescription. This is to ensure that the herbal remedies you’ll be taking do not interact negatively with your medications. Interaction of medications can produce undesirable side effects and can be dangerous to your health as well.

Some of the popular herbal medications for alleviating anxiety and panic attacks include:

• Saint John’s Wort

This herb has been used for centuries to treat mental disorders and as a sedative as well. It acts as a mood stabilizer as well as an antidepressant. For those who suffer anxiety disorder, this herb can be taken everyday to help balance your stress levels and help manage your feelings or moods more effectively. You need to this herb for at least a month before you begin to see improvement.

One disadvantage of St. John’s Wort herb is that it may interact with some drugs. The herb may speed or slow a drug’s breakdown.

• Valerian

A soothing herb that has long been used for sleep disorders and anxiety, this can be taken at bedtime or at any time of the day when you are beginning to feel a little anxious. This herb has also been used for depression, headaches and irregular heartbeat.

A known disadvantage of valerian is that it may cause some mild side effects such as dizziness, stomach upset, and feeling fatigue in the morning.

• Passion Flower

Passion Flower is a natural plant-based supplement that is used as a mild sedative and sleep aid. It also helps to reduce restlessness, anxiety, and nervousness.

Passion Flower has a disadvantage of causing allergic reaction. Some symptoms of allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. Seek medical attention if you think you’ve an allergic reaction from this herb.

• Chamomile

This herb is effective for treating anxiety, sleeplessness and gastrointestinal conditions such as upset stomach and diarrhea. Chamomile is also used topically to treat mouth ulcers. There is a reason why chamomile tea is used before bed. It helps to soothe your stress and manage your anxiety.

Disadvantage: There are reports of rare allergic reactions in people who come into contact with chamomile herbs. Some of the symptoms include skin rashes, throat swelling and shortness of breath.

The above is by no means the complete list of herbal remedies for anxiety and panic attacks. They are just some popular herbs or natural supplements used to alleviate anxiety, stress and panic attacks.

If you’re looking for a natural way to treat panic attack, making some small changes to your daily routine can be a great help. These simple ways can help you reduce anxiety and stop panic attacks from happening. They also have the added benefit of improving your health and quality of life overall. Feeling better about yourself and more confident enables you to handle stress more efficiently rather than doubting your ability to cope or living in a constant state of fear.

Take a look at what you eat. If your diet consists mainly of heavily processed foods, then this could be contributing to your anxiety. Refined grains and sugars are not only unhealthy for you, they can also make panic attacks worse and make it more difficult for you to deal with stressful situations. Switching over to a diet that mainly consists of raw, unprocessed foods can give you the energy and focus you need to be able to handle anxiety. Proteins and foods that are low in saturated fats should also be part of your diet.

In order to treat panic attack, you might have to cut back or completely cut out certain drinks. Caffeine is one of the biggest culprits when it comes to substances that can worsen your condition and make attacks more severe and harder to manage. If you don’t think you can handle eliminating coffee or soda from your diet, try switching to decaffeinated products. Be aware though that even these contain small amounts of caffeine. Since this substance increases anxiety, limiting the amount you drink can make a drastic difference in your ability to handle stress.

Like caffeine, alcohol is another substance that can compromise your effectiveness when dealing with stressful situations. Your inability to focus or handle anxiety in a calm, rational manner while under the influence of alcohol can lead to more frequent and more severe panic attacks. Avoiding alcohol can help you manage stress more effectively and prevent attacks from occurring.

Exercise has been show to be highly successful when used to treat panic attack. Implementing a workout into your daily routine can help make you calmer and more confident when faced with situations that have caused you anxiety in the past. Aerobic exercises are especially good at accomplishing this. You don’t have to spend hours at the gym or run for miles and miles. As little as 30 minutes of aerobic exercise each day will make you feel more relaxed and able to deal with stress.

Diet and exercise are simple and straightforward ways to reduce your chances of suffering from panic attacks. Although they are good ways to treat panic attack, they won’t necessarily put a stop to them for good. There are other natural remedies that work much faster and can give you permanent relief from panic attacks by helping you overcome the fear of having them in the first place. Getting rid of this fear will allow you to finally enjoy life without feeling trapped or helpless.

Eager to put a permanent end to panic attacks? This quick and effective way to treat panic attack will have you feeling better and enable you to live your life to its fullest in no time! http://curepanicattacks.ax90.com

Why Coffee Can Cause You to Have Panic Attacks

What you may not be aware of is that coffee is one of the worst drinks that you could possibly drink if you are a nervous person or you are under stress all the time and more specifically it can cause you to have anxiety or panic attacks.

Yes I know that you are probably already fully aware that coffee has caffeine in it unless you drink the decaffeinated kind. But did you know that event the decaffeinated coffee still has 2-4 mg of caffeine?

Heres the breakdown of caffeine content for common drinks and foods

8 oz cup of drip coffee has about 105-190 mg of caffeine in it

8 oz of brewed tea has 20-90 mg of caffeine

8 oz soft drinks has about 20-40 mg

8 oz of cocoa has up to 30 mg

1 oz milk chocolate has 1mg to 15mg of caffeine

1 oz dark chocolate has 5 mg to 35 mg of caffeine

Compare the above to over the counter pills that keep you awake

- Typical generic pills that keep you wake has about 100 mg of caffeine

- Vivarin has about 200mg of caffeine

So why should you know this?

Well since caffeine is a stimulant drug it affects the neurotransmitters in your brain just like cocaine and heroin to manipulate dopamine production in your body.

The brain keeps sending signals using the neurotransmitters and tells the pituitary gland to release hormones that cause additional amounts adrenaline to be released into your bloodstream.

If your under a lot of stress or a nervous person by nature this can cause you to have a panic attack. If you already have been known to have panic and anxiety attacks this can easily, within minutes, cause you to have a panic attack.

Depending on how much caffeine you ingest will pretty much determine the intensity and duration if an attack were to occur.

Also for those of you who drink caffeine after a morning of drinking alcohol for your hangover, this can be a double whammy and really make you susceptible to lapse into a panic attack.

I’ve drank caffeine the morning after drinking several times in the past before I realized what devastating affects that it can have on me as a person with panic disorder. My heart will skyrocket and start skipping beats (PVC’s) to make me feel as if I’m having a heart attack as well as have intense feelings of immanent death as adrenaline surges through my body.

Its an extremely frightening experience and if you’ve never had a panic attack before, caffeine can easily cause this to happen to you at some point in your life.

I’ve suffered from severe panic attack disorder for nearly 30 years. Stop living in fear each day like I was. Get my free tips that can avoid and stop your panic attacks forever. Go to my blog How To Stop Your Panic Attacks

Generally people who suffer from this disorder will experience some but not all the symptoms of a panic attack when it occurs.

Panic attacks will normally only last for a short period of time around 10 minutes if you have one. However, sometimes you may find that some of the symptoms associated with such attacks may last for quite a bit longer. Certainly once you have had one panic attack you are at a greater risk of suffering from others in the future. For those who have to deal with panic attacks quite regularly then they are suffering from the condition which is referred to as Panic Disorder.

There are not only physical symptoms that a sufferer of panic attacks will have to deal with, but there are the mental ones as well. Below we take a look at the symptoms of a panic attack which a sufferer needs to be aware so that they know when an attack is occurring.

1. You may when you are having a panic attack feel dizzy and apprehensive. Often you may find yourself panicking when there isn’t anything for you to panic about. Sometimes the dizzy can lead to you feeling weak and in some cases if it becomes a severe attack you may faint.

2.	Sometimes you may find it hard to breathe when an attack occurs as there seems to be some kind of restriction to your chest and may be your throat. The constriction of the chest is often caused by your body trying to combat the surge of adrenalin within the body.

3.	You will find that your heart rate is much faster than normal in order to try and pump more oxygen around the body. Because your body is using up more oxygen then you find yourself beginning to hyperventilate (you are breathing much faster and deeper). This is because your body is trying to get more oxygen into it in order to replace that which has been lost.

4.	When you suffer a panic attack you may start to feel disassociated from the things around you. Sometimes it can feel as you are moving away from things that are real or your vision becomes tunneled. Although these kinds of symptoms are also associated with a person having a heartache one needs to be aware that when they occur with a panic attack they won’t hurt you.

Although the symptoms of a panic attack may seem frightening to those who have them it is important for you to remember that the attack can be controlled. The first thing to do when you feel that an attack is approaching is to start breathing very slowly and very deeply. Even this can provide you with the ability to get the panic attack under control and you will hopefully begin to feel better shortly afterward.

A lot of people take to alcohol as they believe it eases out their nerves during panic situations. It is true that a drink or two gives you a more relaxed feeling so does that mean alcohol can be used to keep panic attacks in check? Absolutely not!

While a glass or two may not be too harmful for most people, there is no real control when you start drinking. Soon you will be downing one glass after another until you are drunk.

There was this friend I knew who used to suffer panic attack while on the airplane. He began to feel that alcohol was helping him stay away from panic attacks and started taking to drinking. His profession required him to fly frequently and visit clients. Every time he went out to meet clients and business owners, he was always tired and dizzy with hangover. Over a period of time his job performance got severely affected and his panic attacks became more regular and severe. However, with my help, he was able to get rid of panic attacks forever, but that is a different story.

Alcohol drains out the useful nutrients present in our body which gives us a sense of calm. Further, it affects the liver stopping its activity of producing serotonin and other neuro-transmitters which are meant to calm you down when you feel anxious.

Although, it gives a mild easy feeling, alcohol or anti depressants are not the way to go if you seek to cure your panic attacks forever. You need to understand that panic attacks are a mental condition resulting from the way our mind perceives certain situations. When harmless situations are perceived as potential danger, the mind triggers the physical sensations causing panic attack.

The right way to deal with panic attacks and depression is by treating the actual root cause of the problem instead of delving on its physical symptoms. Thousands of people have got their panic attacks cured forever by using Joe Barry’s One Move Method.

Even if you have tried all methods to cure panic attacks and failed, there is Hope.
Causes of Panic Attacks

In order to stop panic attacks in their tracks, it is necessary to understand the physical and psychological factors that lead to these episodes. Once you understand how the attacks develop in the first place. Understanding the causes of panic attack problems can help you decide which treatments are right for you.

Keep in mind that there are a number of different factors that can contribute to anxiety and overwhelming stress. Following are various contributors that can lead to significant anxiety. These factors can also be causes of panic attacks.

Biological Causes

Some postulate that there are biological elements that factor into the onset of panic attacks. There is a biological imbalance in the 5-HTT gene as Ohio State University researchers have found. This malfunction in the 5-HTT gene can be linked as a cause of panic attacks problems.

This gene functions to regulate serotonin in the human body. Serotonin is a balancing chemical that helps people regulate stress and anxiety. When this chemical is lacking or in excess, the person may lose the ability to cope with stressful situations.

The imbalance of serotonin levels can make a person susceptible to certain conditions including panic disorders. However, the researchers do not contend that this gene is the sole problems with panic attacks. Other factors contribute to the condition as well.

Psychological Causes

Experience and emotions factor in to the causes of panic attacks. A person may have had a traumatic event or sudden loss. These stressful situations rest deep in the human mind and manifest in the form of anxiety or panic episodes at one point of time or another.

Separation anxiety is also linked to these types of attacks. An individual who has a history of traumatic separation may be more likely to have panic episodes than someone who has not. Many sufferers remember having attacks as children.

Fear is another emotion that comes into play with these attacks. The fear emotion is intense and the body takes the feeling very seriously. This emotion is designed to protect, making is a substantial force in the human psyche.

Biological and Psychological Factors

Some researchers believe that the causes of panic attacks stem from a combination of biological and psychological factors. You may have a genetic predisposition to panic attack episodes that goes unnoticed until you experience a highly stressful situation.

Getting Help

Though they seem tremendous, panic attacks do not have to take control of your life. You can use treatments like self-hypnosis to help you stop panic attacks before they start. Relaxation can help your body regulate itself. This approach is ideal because it helps you to reduce anxiety and stress. These factors can contribute as causes of panic attacks.

Using Self Hypnosis To Help

Self hypnosis can be extremely rewarding, and can give you visible results which can help you change your life for the better. One excellent self hypnosis recording devoted to helping you ending panic, is Stop Panic Attacks by Debbie Williams; Debbie Williams is a highly trained and sort after therapist and has had over 10 years of successful clinical experience.
People who are suffering from panic disorders have a difficult time as it is, but finding ways of coping with their condition is the first step to battling panic. There are many methods for coping with panic attacks and finding the one that will work for you should be at the top of your list of things to do.

Schedule a visit with your doctor as soon as you first begin noticing any unusual symptoms. The symptoms are easily recognizable and could turn out to be the symptoms of an undiagnosed medical condition, but can just as easily be anxiety-related. The symptoms of panic attacks include:

Heart palpitations Difficulty breathing Chest pain Sweating Nausea Trembling or shaking

There are other symptoms that can occur with panic attacks, but very often the fear of having these attacks is enough to trigger another one. If the patient does not treat the problem it will become worse and could lead to an anxiety disorder called agoraphobia. This occurs when the patient becomes irrationally fearful of having a panic attack in a public place and is unable to or finds it difficult to leave the home or other self-imposed zone of comfort.

A doctor can prescribe medication to help with the immediate physical symptoms of panic attacks. Very often the medications will be an antidepressant used in combination with medication that is taken at the time of the panic attack. This treatment can work very well for the short term.

There are also behavior therapies that can get to the root of the problem and cure the panic attacks through behavior modification. Cognitive behavior therapy is one of the most used treatments. When a patient is undergoing this type of treatment they will be encouraged to change their thought patterns when they feel a panic attack beginning.

Cognitive behavior therapy will require the patient to become more aware of the thoughts that are leading to the panic in the first place. This can be a very successful form of treatment but requires a focused effort on the part of the patient to enable successful coping with panic attacks.

Natural remedies can also be used for coping with panic attacks. Breathing techniques and relaxation methods are also very helpful in stopping panic attacks when they begin. A patient will learn how to focus their attention on their breathing or other object and take the focus off of the panic attack. This is a very helpful, but difficult, approach to coping with panic attacks.

Whichever method or treatment is used it is important that the patient be focused on learning the ways of coping with panic attacks. They must make sure that their treatment remains consistent and that they take the medications that are prescribed.

Panic attacks can be effectively managed if you learn a few simple tricks for dealing with anxiety Check out available resources at AnxietyandPanicAttack.net today.

Prescription medications often aren’t the ideal solution for many sufferers of panic and anxiety attacks. In some cases, the drugs simply don’t work, or they make the panic attacks worse. In others, the associated side-effects of the drugs are intolerable.

Medications prescribed for panic attacks usually include powerful psychoactive benzodiazepines and antidepressant selective serotonin-reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Both of these drugs have significant undesirable side-effects including apathy, sexual dysfunction, depression, suicidal thoughts, weakness and even amnesia.

The medical community is frequently dismissive toward panic-attack sufferers. The tendency for doctors to either flippantly recommend ineffective “breath into a paper bag”-type suggestions or leap to prescribing powerful, mind-altering drugs is well-reported by people with panic disorders. Certainly, panic attacks are a psychological condition, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t serious or the suffering they cause isn’t real.

Dealing With a Panic Attack

When a panic attack strikes, there are some effective temporary techniques you can employ to help get you through the attack, including:

Breathing exercises - not breathing into a paper bag, this can actually make a panic attack worse by reducing the flow of oxygen to the brain, but breathing slowly in through the nose and out through the mouth. You must do this slowly to avoid hyperventilating (getting too much oxygen).

Talk with your spouse or another supportive person - this is one of the most effective coping mechanisms. Having someone else to focus on during the attack allows your mind to focus on something else and helps short-circuit the panic-spiral.

Affirmation - this technique involves slowly repeating a coping statement to yourself over and over. For example, “No one dies from panic attacks. I will let this pass and I will be fine.” The act of repeating the affirmation can have a calming, meditative effect.

Preventing Panic Attacks in the First Place

All of the methods above may help you cope with a panic attack, but merely coping is not enough. Practical and effective drug-free self-treatments are available that can help you get your anxiety attacks under control and reduce their frequency and severity.

Having a panic attack can cause your body to react with all kinds of freaky symptoms like tightness in the chest, racing heart, heart palpitations, choking feeling, sweating palms, and the psychological symptoms like an intense feeling of death or doom along with a feeling of unreality.

Even reading this you may be getting a little tense. How do I know this? Its because I too have panic attacks along with the skipping heart and many of the symptoms above.

Relax your not going to die. I’ve had these for 30 years now so you have nothing to worry about except they can be quite annoying. Ok they can be quite life disturbing and very frightening to experience…..

What you need to know is that there are literally millions of other people who have experienced exactly what you have, a skipping heart beat during a panic attack. I don’t care how “weird” you think your panic attack symptoms are. I guarantee somebody else has them too. Believe me I do lots of research on this stuff.

Just knowing that should put your mind at ease.

However I recommend that you work on preventing your panic attacks so that you will not have to endure these symptoms. They can have devastating long-term affects on the human mind.

Some of these panic attack symptoms may even be keeping you from doing the things that you enjoy. Like in my case I was always fixating on my next panic attack. What do you fixate on? Is it the fear of feeling your heart skipping beats again? Is it the fear of unreality during your panic attack?

I’ve suffered from severe panic attacks
