if i were you, i wouldnt take any drugs especially paxil. do your research before you start any drug. the doctor never tells you the bad side effects when taking drugs because most people are so desperate for the drug they'll take anything. paxil is one of the hardest drugs to taper off. you will regret it later. after a month of taking it and researching the drug i just threw it in the trash. xanax is a horrible drug to take, i'd throw that in the trash too. if you hyperventalate, just carry a paper bag around with you and breathe through that, works like a charm. and for the anxiety, jus practice deep breathing and meditation. focus on the breath and just concentrate on breathing all the way down to the tummy, not just your lungs. take deep long breaths when you feel anxiety coming on. takes practice but you'll get over it. trust me, you dont need the drugs. i understand ppl today don't have patience to wait for results but its the best way to heal yourself. Patience is a virtue. if you live by that phrase, your anxiety will soon dissipate forever. hope this helps.

I have taken Xanax and it does work well, especially for people with panic attacks. For people who are anxious more frequently, Klonopin works very well because it is much longer acting. I take a moderately large dose of Klonopin and it helps. I now do pretty much everything I want to, I was housebound for about a year in my late teens. Different meds work better for different people, so you may need to work with your doc to find what is best for you. Best wishes.

I suffer from anxiety/ panic disorder as well. I take Klonopin and that seems to work ok for me. Unfortunately, I do not know much about Xanax. I mean I heard about it, but i haven't ever experienced it. A possible solution would be to talk to your doctor and ask maybe for a larger dose.
i know that it's tough.
Hang in there =)

Hi,
I am not currently on anything but I really am starting to have bad panic attacks and feel like I can't breathe lately. I am trying to get into my doctor or a doctor at her office, but the next date available is March 4. I can't find another doctor to get into and don't know if I should just go to a mental health clinic instead. Did you have weight gain with Xanax? I really want to avoid the meds if I can but right now my usual exercise and breathing aren't working and I don't know what else to do. Have you tried anything else?

Hey, thanks for the thumbs down. That made me feel a lot better. :( Hope you figure your problem out. I guess I'll find someone else to help.
